The best hotel experience we ever had. Great room, a breakfast that will easily get you to lunch and a wonderful staff. Downtown, Chinatown, Knob hill and Fishermans Wharf are all within walking distance and we felt safe walking. There are plenty of nearby restaurants and if you need a car. There is a National Car Rental right across the street

The White Swan Inn is a delightful place - the perfect place to stay in Nob Hill / Union Square. I am a frequent business traveller and had an incredibly pleasant stay there in February 2010. My wife and I loved the place and look forward to our next return.

If you want a hotel which is convenient and clean, has a friendly and helpful staff and a terrific breakfast, this is the place for you. This was our first stay, and we had two lovely rooms. The staff was cheerful and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. If you want sleek, modern and way cool, this may not be the place for you--no flat screen TV and an old-fashioned elevator. For us, those amenities were not nearly as important as the friendliness, cleanliness and convenience of this hotel.

My husband and I were stranded when we could not get back to Hawaii due to the earthquake in Oct. Fortunately, sister hotel The Petite Auberge recommended The White Swan who did have a room for us. They took us in, even reduced the hotel rate, and we had a wonderful room with a street view. We also had a wonderful breakfast in the Breakfast Room - we waited until noon to check out and then stayed at sister hotel The Petite Auberge for the next two nights. The service here is beyond great - staff is knowledgeable, concerned and extremely helpful. Thankx for the rescue.

My husband and I stayed at The Petite Auberge (sister hotel next door) and were about to return to Hawaii, however the Earth Quake kept up in San Francisco an extra three days. The White Swann Inn had a delux king room in the front of the hotel when we needed it. The Petite Auberge was full. The fireplace welcomed us with warmth and tea also helped. The breakfast was absolutely great and the front desk was unbelieveable. The next day we returned to The Petite Auberge for our extra two day stay. Thank you White Swan for being there for us when we so needed you.
